In early 2020 in the height of the pandemic I decided to start experimenting with new and various plugins. While looking for new drum samples for trigger I came across the JST Site (Joey Sturgis Tones) While there I came across the Billy Decker Bus Glue Series of plugins. I being in Dallas Tx have never heard of Billy so I decided to do a little goggling and found out that at that time he had 15 number 1 hits on the country charts. This guy was no joke. I came across just what i was looking for over at Drumforge where they were show casing Billy’s Drum Shotz and picked them up immediately.

That was just the beginning of where this search for a better mix in a world of endless ideas and (In The Box) style plugin products would take me. Once I started using his drum samples and Bus Glue plugins I started relying less on my outboard gear and more of the (In The Box) style mixing. I have always thought that the only way to get a great mix was by having the best outboard gear and the best most expensive plugins on the market. Now while outboard is still my go to for recording many of the plugins that Billy uses are not that expensive

Billy was Instrumental in my achieving radio ready mixes.

He took me into His world where I found that greatness is achievable.

As the story goes I had been using Mix Templates for about 5 years. I still didn’t feel like I was achieving the final mixes I had been striving for years to obtain. They were good and that was it. Just good not great. Good is the enemy of Great! I had seen Billy in several of the mix communities that we were both in and we became friends online. As Billy would say to anyone thats mixing that had an issue or question (Just call me dude) or reach out. So one day Billy came out with a book explaining how to set up and use the very Mix Template he uses everyday. Needless to say I went ahead and picked it up from amazon right then.

Once I had it loaded up I found out his routing is completely different than the main stream way to route to effects etc. I was blown away actually, but somehow this thing was like getting out of a ford tempo and stepping into a Maserati. I was so impressed that I started making the template my own. About a year later my wife and I went on vacation and Nashville was one of our stops. I got up the nerve to message Billy from one of our online group platforms and asked him since I was going to be in Nashville would he mind signing my book. He graciously said yes and I was pumped. I mean the guy now has 16 number one hits and was kind enough to meet me and sign his book that really was a game changer for me. He invited us over to his studio – Westwood Studio (The Cabin) where we were able to just kick it and talk. he asked if i wanted to hear what he was working on and let me sit in the drivers seat and let me tell you it was amazing.

Since then I have had the privilege of becoming good friends with Billy. He helps me when I need it and I help him when he needs a little help on projects in construction. Either way this guy is the real deal and just a good human being. If your mixes need that little extra something and you don’t mind trying new things I assure you money well spent. Try out any of his proven products and you will see the DECKERATED difference.
